Have a Ghouly Gluten Free Halloween!

It’s that time of year again – the day of the year that the kids dress up in their cute little costumes, only to have to put a winter jacket on over the top. Here in CO – it seems that first snow likes to wait until Halloween to hit. WELL…not this year! It decided to hit 4 days early! I’m sitting at home looking at 14 inches of snow, with the weatherman telling me that number could double by tomorrow. Needless to say, Halloween will still happen, and I’m sure whether you’re a tricker-treater, a parent of a little goblin, or just work in any public place – you’re going to encounter some Halloween treats this year. This can be a nice little treat for all of us, but for those that need to follow a gluten free diet, it can be a BIG challenge. Those miniature candy bars don’t have nutrition facts on them, and there are so many varieties that it can just plain scare you away from trying any at all (not a bad idea for the diet, but not so fun either).

To try to help you out, I have put together a list of my top 10 favorite gluten free candy treats, as well as some definate NO-NO’s.

3. Dove Dark Chocolate

4. Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups

5. York Peppermint Patty

6. Hot Tamales

7. Jolly Ranchers

9. Milky Way Midnight (beware: regular Milky Ways are NOT GF)

10. Sour Patch Kids
